The policy and procedures sub-committee meets on a bi-monthly basis. It is chaired by Dona Womack dona.womack@derbyshire.gov.uk.
Meetings take place at De Bradelei Mill in Belper.
The next meetings for 2007 will take place on 13 November 2007.
Purpose
To advise and make recommendations to the Local Safeguarding Children Board on all inter agency professional matters related to the policy, procedure and practice of safeguarding children.
Specific responsibilities:
To lead on planning inter agency service provision of services to safeguard children, in consultation with a wider range of agencies and inter agency bodies.
To lead on the review and revision of new policy and procedure.
To develop new policy and procedures.
To develop and maintain inter agency communication and consultation on existing and emerging policy and practice, utilising a wide variety of techniques including working groups, project management, research and development.
To maintain a formal link with those agencies and organisations that have responsibility or contribution to make in safeguarding children.
To lead on the production of the annual report/ business plan.
To lead on Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB) service objectives
To fulfil the objectives of the service plan as ascribed to the Policy and procedure sub-committee by the DSCB.
To contribute to the annual discussions negotiations over the DSCB budget and resourcing.
Membership
The policy and procedure sub committee comprises of a member of each of the constituent agencies of the LSCB.
Each member should be able to contribute to the work of the committee and to ensure that there is consultation within their own agency in respect of newly proposed policies and procedures.
The members are also responsible for taking a lead in ensuring that new policies and procedures are disseminated and implemented within their own agency.
