Vulnerable children sub-committee

The vulnerable children (VC) sub-committee has been established to map service provision across the county for particularly vulnerable groups of children

The chair of the VC sub-committee is Phil Rogers phil.rogers@derbyshire.gov.uk. The sub committee meets on a bi-monthly basis at De Bradelei house Belper.

Vulnerable Children Group - purpose

To ensure that policies, procedures, training and resources are in place in relation to the groups of children identified as particularly vulnerable. These include:

  • fostered children (public and private placements)
  • children in residential care
  • those in hospital
  • boarding school
  • custody
  • temporary accommodation
  • missing from home
  • homeless
  • unaccompanied asylum seekers
  • migrants
  • all other children living away from home. 

Children experiencing:

  • domestic abuse
  • bullying and peer abuse
  • domestic violence
  • sexual exploitation
  • female genital mutilation
  • forced marriage.

Consideration may also need to be given to other groups of children and young people.

Responsibilities:

To ensure that the specific needs of vulnerable children remain central to the safeguarding agenda.

To work with other sub groups to ensure that procedures and training events address the needs of these groups of children.

Reporting activity

VC sub-committee will report to each meeting of the Safeguarding Children Board.  The report will also be presented at the partnership group meeting.
