Welcome to the latest programme of courses run by the Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB) training team.

From Risk Assessment to Parental Mental Health, from Effective Supervision to Safeguarding Disabled Children we have the right course for you.

On this page you will find information about the courses that are running from April 2008 to March 2009.

We have set out the aims, who the course is intended for, an indication of the content and the dates and venues.

Please download our Training Programme document from the related documents section on this page and share it with anyone that you think might benefit.

Safeguarding skills, knowledge and values

All our courses are mapped against safeguarding learning outcomes linked to the statutory safeguarding guidance for England and Wales: 'Working Together' 2006.

Please look at the 'self-assessment' document that can be downloaded from the more information section.  We hope that this will help you to recognise your current levels of knowledge, skills and values as well as identify areas for further development.

In the document there is full guidance how to use the self-assessment document either as an individual or as part of a team exercise. There is also a list of relevant courses that might then help fill the gaps!

Values matter

All our courses seek to address issues relating to diversity and difference, equal opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice.

You can view or download the statemet of interprofessional values for working with children that has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the General Social Care Council and the General Teaching Council for England, from the more information section.
